A me è dato di servire come so e posso: pregando, pensando, incitando, dattilografando…e, talvolta, disturbando.

 

Ho il ruolo più facile che esista e, tuttavia, non riesco a farlo sempre bene. Ma saprei fare altro?  Però devo anche invocare la misericordia di Dio e far sapere agli altri quanto Lui mi ha amato, nonostante tutto. E qui mi trovo meno a mio agio perché sento il peso di tante ingratitudini.

 

Questa mattina, mentre scendevo le scale della metropolitana, pensavo a Salvatore.  Lo Spirito Santo, il datore dei doni, gli ha dato la “percezione” che dietro l’etichetta un po’ colorita della Compagnia…, si cela un carisma, l’hospitalitas, che ha origini lontane: è il ministero sanante della Chiesa.

 

Lo Spirito lo chiama, lo invia a portare alla Comunità (di Weil) che cerca di animare alla fede cattolica, i carismi della misericordia e della compassione, indicandogli in Giovanni di Dio la radice e in Riccardo Pampuri l’ultimo virgulto di una vigna prolifica. Avrebbe potuto dire: “Signore, che ne so io di tutto questo? Perché mandi me?”  E invece no: va a fare l’ambasciata senza discutere.

 

Tutto diventa comprensibile soltanto nel prodigioso mistero pasquale dell’Eucaristia: la Carità si dilata, gli ospitati, si fanno ospitali…

 

A questa comunità che sente fortemente la mancanza di un presbitero per la domenica, è chiesto di accontentarsi e di capovolgere il modo di leggere gli avvenimenti:

 

  • il Signore non è sempre disponibile come Eucaristia Domenicale?
  • Bene: il “sofferente” è il Signore riconoscibile e condivisibile anche fuori di Chiesa, nelle case, sul lavoro, in ospedale…
  • Ci viene detto che è lo stesso Signore-Risorto,
  • E’ un altro modo di dire “Fate questo in memoria di me”;
  • Non c’è pane e vino da mettere sull’altare? C’è un equivalente: corpi- anime-persone;
  • Manca il ministro ordinato? Sì, però sussiste il sacerdozio regale del Popolo di Dio.
  • Ecco la Chiesa intorno alla Persona: “ …l’avete fatto a me”;
  • E’ il cammino inverso quello che in alcune settimane del mese viene chiesto a questi Credenti: dalla Persona all’Eucaristia.
  • Siamo davanti al Dono e al Mistero.

Questa visione teologica è bene espressa da un santo. Don Giovanni Calabria amava dire spesso:

  • “Tutte le parole del Vangelo sono consacratorie” Il che significa che, se noi crediamo alle parole di Gesù che dice “Questo è il mio corpo e questo è il mio sangue…”,
  • dobbiamo credere con altrettanta fede e certezza anche altre parole di Gesù, come ad esempio:
  • ” Non vi affannate…non vi preoccupate…Il vostro Padre pensa a voi”;
  • “Chi accoglie un bambino come questo accoglie me”;
  • “Avevo fame e mi (a me) avete dato da mangiare…”

Nella fede radicale di Don Calabria, questo significava che per lui la presenza di Cristo nell’Eucarestia è la stessa presenza di Cristo nel Povero…

Chi non donerà a quest’ottimo mercante ciò che possiede, quando cura il nostro interesse e ci supplica a braccia aperte di convertirci a lui e di piangere i nostri peccati e di metterci al servizio della carità, prima verso di noi e poi verso il prossimo?

Infatti come l’acqua estingue il fuoco, così la carità cancella il peccato (cfr. Sir 3, 29).

Vengono qui tanti poveri, che io molto spesso mi meraviglio in che modo possano esser mantenuti. Ma Gesù Cristo provvede a tutto e tutti sfama. Molti poveri vengono nella casa di Dio, perché la città di Granada è grande e freddissima, soprattutto ora che è inverno.

Abitano ora in questa casa oltre centodieci persone: malati, sani, poveri, pellegrini. Dato che questa è la casa generale, accoglie malati di ogni genere e condizione:

  • rattrappiti nelle membra,
  • storpi, lebbrosi, muti, dementi,
  • paralitici, tignosi, stremati dalla vecchiaia,
  • molti fanciulli e inoltre innumerevoli pellegrini e viandanti, che giungono qui e trovano fuoco, acqua, sale e recipienti in cui cuocere i cibi.

Non esistono stanziamenti pecuniari er tutti costoro, ma Cristo provvede. Perciò lavoro con denaro altrui e sono prigioniero per onore di      Gesù Cristo. Sono così oppresso dai debiti, che spesso non oso uscire di casa a motivo dei     debitori ai quali devo rispondere.

D’altra parte vi sono tanti poveri fratelli, mio prossimo, provati oltre ogni possibilità umana,      sia nell’anima che nel corpo, che io sento grandissima amarezza di non poter soccorrere.

Confido tuttavia in Cristo che conosce il mio cuore. Perciò dico: Maledetto l’uomo che confida negli uomini e non confida in Cristo.

Volente o nolente gli uomini ti lasceranno. Cristo invece è fedele e immutabile. Cristo veramente provvede a tutto. A lui rendiamo sempre grazie. Amen” (Dalle lettere di San Giovanni di Dio)
