Torna la solennità della gloriosa tradizione della Chiesa

CITTA’ DEL VATICANO – La giornata, con cui si chiude l’anno liturgico,  si celebra la festa di Cristo Re, con la quale la Chiesa onora Gesù Cristo come Sovrano universale delle anime, delle famiglie, delle Nazioni, invocando da Dio che tutti i popoli possano essere uniti nell’unico Gregge del Signore. In Vaticano fervono i preparativi per il Concistoro con cui Benedetto XVI onorerà della Porpora ventitrè nuovi Cardinali, imponendo loro la berretta rossa.
Alla Messa che accompagna questa cerimonia il Santo Padre indosserà una Mitria del beato Pio IX, sulle valve della quale sono ricamate le immagini della Vergine Immacolata e del Salvatore: essa fu donata all’ultimo Papa Re proprio in occasione della proclamazione del Dogma dell’Immacolata Concezione.
La casula del Papa, già indossata da Giovanni Paolo II ma confezionata durante il Pontificato di Paolo VI utilizzando lo stolone di un antico piviale, ha raffigurato Cristo Re secondo l’iconografia tradizionale: la triplice corona in capo, lo scettro nella destra e la sphera mundi nella sinistra.

È significativo che – dopo decenni di ardite innovazioni – l’Ufficio  delle Celebrazioni Liturgiche del Sommo Pontefice abbia voluto riproporre una Mitria ed un paramento di particolare bellezza, entrambi segno di continuità dottrinale e liturgica con quella Tradizione cattolica che pareva  da tempo dimenticata. E se siamo ormai abituati a sentir ricordare con autorevolezza dal Santo Padre l’immutata dottrina della Chiesa, non può che destar soddisfazione il veder finalmente rispecchiata quella dottrina anche nella bellezza delle vesti sacre. Il nuovo Maestro delle Cerimonie liturgiche, Monsignor Guido Marini, dimostra di saper tradurre in segni inequivocabili e visibili la mens di Benedetto XVI, che non ha mai fatto mistero della propria attenzione alla bellezza ed alla solennità delle celebrazioni .——————————————————–

Pio XI- Enciclica “Quas primas”:

“Da gran tempo si è usato comunemente di chiamare Cristo con l’appellativo di Re per il sommo grado di eccellenza che ha in modo sovraeminente fra tutte le cose create. In tal modo, infatti, si dice che Egli regna nelle menti degli uomini non solo per l’altezza del suo pensiero e per la vastità della sua scienza, ma anche perché Egli è Verità, ed è necessario che gli uomini attingano e ricevano con obbedienza da Lui la Verità.” “egno, (DTutti debbono riconoscere che è necessario rivendicare a Cristo, Uomo nel vero senso della parola, il nome e i poteri di Re; infatti soltanto in quanto è Uomo si può dire che abbia ricevuto dal Padre la potestà, l’onore e il ran. 7, 14) perché come Verbo di Dio, essendo della stessa sostanza del Padre, non può non avere in comune con il Padre ciò che è proprio della divinità, e per conseguenza Egli su tutte le cose create ha il sommo e assolutissimo impero.”
 “Vediamo che Cristo stesso dà testimonianza del suo impero: infatti, sia nel suo ultimo discorso alle turbe, quando parla dei premi e delle pene, riservate in perpetuo ai giusti e ai dannati; sia quando risponde al Preside romano che pubblicamente gli chiedeva se fosse Re, sia quando risorto affida agli Apostoli l’ufficio di ammaestrare e battezzare tutte le genti, colta l’opportuna occasione, si attribuì il nome di Re (Matth. 25, 31-40), e pubblicamente confermò di essere Re (Joh. 18, 37) e annunziò solennemente che a Lui era stato dato ogni potere in cielo e in terra (Matth. 28, 18). E con queste parole che altro si vuol significare se non la grandezza della potestà e l’estensione immensa del suo Regno?
 Non può dunque sorprenderci se Colui che è detto da Giovanni “Principe dei Re della terra” (Apoc. 1, 5), porti, come apparve all’Apostolo nella visione apocalittica “scritto sulla sua veste e sopra il suo fianco: Re dei re e Signore dei dominanti” (Apoc. 19, 16).
 Da quando l’eterno Padre costituì Cristo erede universale (Hebr. 1, 2), è necessario che Egli regni finché riduca, alla fine dei secoli, ai piedi del trono di Dio tutti i suoi nemici (I Cor. 15, 25).”
 “Il principato di Cristo si fonda su quella unione mirabile che è chiamata unione ipostatica. Dal che segue che Cristo non solo deve essere adorato come Dio dagli Angeli e dagli uomini, ma anche che a Lui, come Uomo, debbono essi essere soggetti, ed obbedire: cioè che per il solo fatto dell’unione ipostatica Cristo ebbe potestà su tutte le creature.”
 “Le testimonianze attinte dalle Sacre Lettere circa l’impero universale del nostro Redentore, provano più che a sufficienza quanto abbiamo detto; ed è dogma di fede che Gesù Cristo è stato dato agli uomini quale Redentore in cui debbono riporre la loro fiducia, ed allo stesso tempo come legislatore a cui debbono obbedire (Ss. Conc. Trid., Sess. VI, can. 21).”
 “Lo stesso Gesù davanti ai Giudei, che lo accusavano di aver violato il sabato con l’aver ridonato la sanità al paralitico, afferma che a Lui fu dal Padre attribuita la potestà giudiziaria: “Il Padre non giudica alcuno, ma ha  rimesso al Figlio ogni giudizio” (Joh. 5, 22). Nel che è compreso pure il diritto di premiare e punire gli uomini anche durante la loro vita, perché ciò non può disgiungersi da una propria forma di giudizio. Inoltre la potestà esecutiva si deve parimenti attribuire a Gesù Cristo, poiché è necessario che tutti obbediscano al suo comando, e nessuno può sfuggire ad esso e alle sanzioni da lui stabilite.”
 “Sbaglierebbe gravemente chi togliesse a Cristo Uomo il potere su tutte le cose temporali, dato che Egli ha ricevuto dal Padre un diritto assoluto su tutte le cose create, in modo che tutto soggiaccia al suo arbitrio.”
 “Il dominio del nostro Redentore abbraccia tutti gli uomini, come affermano queste parole del Nostro Predecessore di immortale memoria Leone XIII, che Noi qui facciamo Nostre: “L’impero di Cristo non si  estende soltanto sui popoli cattolici, o a coloro che, rigenerati nel fonte battesimale, appartengono, a rigore di diritto, alla Chiesa, sebbene le errate opinioni li allontanino o il dissenso li divida dalla carità; ma abbraccia anche quanti sono privi di fede cristiana, di modo che tutto il genere umano è sotto la potestà di Gesù Cristo”.

Né v’è differenza fra gli individui e il consorzio domestico e civile, poiché gli uomini, uniti in società, non sono meno sotto la potestà di Cristo di quello che lo siano gli uomini singoli. È lui solo la fonte della salute privata e pubblica: “Né in alcun altro è salute, né sotto il cielo altro nome è stato dato agli uomini, mediante il quale abbiamo da essere salvati” (Act. 4, 12), è lui solo l’autore della prosperità e della vera felicità sia per i singoli, sia per gli Stati: “poiché il benessere della società non ha origine diversa da quello dell’uomo, la società non essendo altro che una concorde moltitudine di uomini” (S. Agostino, Lettera a Macedone, III).

Non rifiutino, dunque, i capi delle nazioni di prestare pubblica testimonianza di riverenza e di obbedienza all’impero di Cristo insieme coi  loro popoli, se vogliono, con l’incolumità del loro potere, l’incremento e il progresso della patria.”

“La peste della età nostra è il così detto laicismo, coi suoi errori e i suoi empi incentivi; e voi sapete, o Venerabili Fratelli, che tale empietà non maturò in un solo giorno ma da gran tempo covava nelle viscere della società. Infatti si cominciò a negare l’impero di Cristo su tutte le genti; si negò alla Chiesa il diritto – che scaturisce dal diritto di Gesù Cristo – di ammaestrare, cioè, le genti, di far leggi, di governare i popoli per condurli alla eterna felicità.”

“La celebrazione di questa festa [di Cristo Re], che si rinnova ogni anno, sarà anche d’ammonimento per le nazioni che il dovere di venerare pubblicamente Cristo e di prestargli obbedienza riguarda non solo i privati, ma anche i magistrati e i governanti: li richiamerà al pensiero del giudizio finale, nel quale Cristo, scacciato dalla società o anche solo ignorato e disprezzato, vendicherà acerbamente le tante ingiurie ricevute, richiedendo la sua regale dignità che la società intera si uniformi ai divini comandamenti e ai princìpi cristiani, sia nello stabilire le leggi, sia nell’amministrare la giustizia, sia, finalmente, nell’informare l’animo dei giovani alla santa dottrina e alla santità dei costumi.”

“Poiché se a Cristo Signore è stata data ogni potestà in cielo e in terra; se tutti gli uomini redenti con il Sangue suo prezioso sono soggetti per un  nuovo titolo alla sua autorità; se, infine, questa potestà abbraccia tutta l’umana natura, chiaramente si comprende che nessuna delle nostre facoltà si sottrae a tanto impero.”

2105 Il dovere di rendere a Dio un culto autentico riguarda l’uomo individualmente, e socialmente. E'”la dottrina cattolica tradizionale sul dovere morale dei singoli, e delle società, verso la vera religione e l’unica Chiesa di Cristo” [Conc. Ecum. Vat. II, Dignitatis humanae, 1].

Evangelizzando senza posa gli uomini, la Chiesa si adopera affinché essi  possano “informare dello spirito cristiano la mentalità e i costumi, le leggi e le strutture della comunità” [Conc. Ecum. Vat. II, Apostolicam actuositatem, 13] in cui vivono.

Il dovere sociale dei cristiani è di rispettare e risvegliare in ogni uomo l’amore del vero e del bene. Richiede loro di far conoscere il culto dell’ “unica vera religione, che sussiste nella Chiesa cattolica ed apostolica” [Conc. Ecum. Vat. II, Dignitatis humanae, 1].

I cristiani sono chiamati ad essere la luce del mondo [Cf Conc. Ecum. Vat. II, Apostolicam actuositatem, 13]. La Chiesa, in tal modo, manifesta la regalità di Cristo su tutta la creazione e in particolare sulle società umane [Cf Leone XIII, Lett. enc.   …
